Phrases of footage (2023-2025)

Annually since 2023, I’ve hosted a collaborative workshop with the Year 12 Visual Art Students at the Victorian College of The Arts Secondary School (VCASS) with teachers/artists Sean Peoples and Nick Heynsbergh.

The workshop focuses on language and poetry in art, resulting in us creating a film together Cameraless Super 8 Film-making

The students used their observational writing journals as inspiration to make markings and draw on a shared fifteen metre reel of recycled, transparent film. We then went through the process of word collage and performing a recording of their word assemblages.

The resulting film Phrases of Footage was then shown at Intermission Gallery at Monash University and screened on the institutional televisions at VCASS.
